Skin Tightening: Will VASER Lipo Help?

Skin Tightening: Will VASER Lipo Help?

Everyone has some areas of their body which they are not completely satisfied with, and for many, this includes loose sagging skin. Whether you have noticed your skin losing tautness as you’ve got older, or you have lost weight, and your skin hasn’t bounced back as hoped, sagging skin can cause many people to be self-conscious. Luckily, there are various treatment options out there to help tighten the skin.

At Hans Place, we are specialists in VASER Liposuction, and our very own Dr Mike Comins was the first to bring the innovative Hi-Def VASER treatment to the UK back in 2008. We have had many customers come to us to ask if VASER Lipo will help tighten the skin and combat sagginess.

We have put together this article to explain everything you need to know about skin tightening and VASER Lipo.

What Causes Loose, Sagging Skin?

Sagging skin can be a problem on both the face and various areas of the body, and there are many reasons behind this. The main cause of loose, sagging skin is a reduction in elastin and collagen in the subdermal layer. This happens as we get older, as the body stops producing so much collagen and elastin over time.

Sagging skin is also a common concern among those who have lost a large amount of weight or following pregnancy. This is because the skin has been stretched out and struggles to bounce back.

When the skin is firm and youthful, it can spring back into place without any issue, but as the skin loses this ability, it will start to sag. Common areas for sagging skin are jowls, chin, stomach, upper arms, throat, and eyelids. It is likely that this is caused by ageing, sun damage, or lifestyle factors. Poor nutrition, smoking, and drinking alcohol can all reduce the amount of collagen and elastin in the body.

How Does VASER Liposuction Work?

VASER Liposuction is a very popular treatment for eliminating excess fat tissue from the body. It can also work to tighten the skin to a certain extent, and many patients see a slight firming effect following VASER Lipo or VASER Hi-Def.

This innovative treatment uses targeted ultrasound technology to selectively remove the fat cells and reshape the area. It can be used to treat large areas such as the thighs, flanks, or tummy, or delicate areas like the jowls, neck, and arms.

The VASER Lipo procedure is done in a surgical theatre, but it is only a minor treatment, and there is no need for a stay in hospital or general anaesthetic. Most individuals can be on their way home within an hour of the treatment, and the recovery time is minimal.

Before the treatment, the area is doused with a saline solution and local anaesthetic. This is done using small incisions around the area and works to numb the skin and shrink blood vessels. VASER Liposuction uses a small probe inserted under the skin and transmits powerful sound energy to emulsify and break up the fat cells. The liquified fat is then removed using an aspiration process, and the area is sculpted using suction cannulas.

VASER Lipo is very effective for removing fat cells from the body, and in the process, the skin can become firmer and tighter. However, VASER Lipo alone is often not enough to tighten sagging skin. We recommend using other skin tightening treatments alongside VASER Liposuction to achieve the best results. VASER Lipo might not be a suitable treatment if you have severe skin laxity, and you could be better with a different skin tightening procedure.

The Best Skin Tightening Treatments

At Hans Place, we offer a range of minimally invasive treatments designed to tackle sagging and loose skin. These can be used as a standalone treatment or alongside VASER Lipo. Some of our most popular skin tightening treatments include:

Renuvion

Renuvion is a ground-breaking treatment that tightens the skin and the tissue below, offering beautifully toned results without major surgery. This procedure uses a Renuvion wand with perfect precision to target very specific areas of the skin.

The wand is inserted subdermally into the skin using small incisions. It then applies radiofrequency energy cooled with helium. This energy contracts the subdermal collagen tissue to encourage new collagen production in the area. Renuvion delivers an instant firming effect, so results are instant, but they also continue to improve for up to a year after treatment.

Because the main cause of sagging skin is a loss of collagen, any treatment which boosts its production in the body will have a firming effect.

ULTRAcel

Another very popular minimally invasive skin tightening treatment available at Hans Place is ULTRAcel. During the procedure, handheld devices are used to deliver radiofrequency, and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) energy to sagging areas.

ULTRAcel is an updated version of the popular INTRAcel treatment, and it offers improved results for facial lifting. Any area on the face or neck which needs tightening, firming or lifting can be treated effectively using ULTRAcel.

Due to the precise nature of this treatment, it is not designed for use on large areas, so if you suffer from sagging skin on the stomach, legs, or arms, ULTRAcel might not be the best option.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments available today, and they are used for a wide range of skin concerns. Many people think of lip filler or other enhancements when considering dermal fillers, but this treatment can actually work to combat sagging skin in certain areas.

When sagging skin is caused by a loss in facial tissue and a drop in collagen production, dermal fillers can be used to plump and fill the area. Needles or cannulas are used to place the filler under the skin, and depending on the area and your skin type, there are many different types of filler to choose from. Recovery is almost instant, and results can be seen right away.
