Lines and Wrinkle treatments for men
Lines and wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process, but sometimes they can make us look tired, unhappy or stressed. Projecting the right image, in the workplace or in our social lives is important and many men have turned to cosmetic procedures to help them look more fresh faced.
There are many treatments for lines and wrinkles – which one you choose will depend on what type of wrinkles you want to treat and where they are. For deep lines, we generally recommend wrinkle injections.
Dermal fillers are another excellent solution. However, we believe that Intracel resurfacing or a chemical peel is the best treatment for fine lines and blemishes.
Eyes and forehead
Lines on the forehead or between the eyes can give men a tired or stressed appearance. Injections are highly effective to soften lines on the upper third of the face – the forehead and around the eyes.
The procedure is very straightforward and involves a series of very small injections. The effects, however, are often remarkable.
If the lines are slightly deeper, we may recommend a dermal filler either used on its own or in conjunction with other types of injections. For fine lines and mild sagginess beneath the eyes, Intracel resurfacing is also recommended.
Around the nose
For small lines on the bridge of the nose – often known as ‘bunny’ lines – the best treatment are wrinkle injections and for men these can be highly effective in smoothing out lines and wrinkles to give a youthful, fresh appearance. These injection treatments last around 3 to 6 months and the treatment itself is very quick ( 10 to 20 minutes following a consultation ).
Nose to mouth
The lines from the sides of the nose to the edges of the mouth are known as the nasolabial folds. As we age, these usually become more prominent as the skin starts to lose collagen and fat, which can cause the cheeks to sag.
These lines often become deeper on people who have lost weight. Treating nose-to-mouth lines can produce a dramatic anti-ageing effect.
Dermal fillers are the best treatment for these lines, though other injections may be used but with limited results. Sometimes these lines are best treated with a more extensive, longer lasting treatment such as INTRAcel.
Around the lips
The fine lines around the mouth are called perioral lines and are typically much more prominent in people who are (or have been) smokers.
A classic sign of ageing, perioral lines appear when the skin loses collagen, a side effect of smoking and ageing. To treat lines around the mouth, the treatment of choice would be Intracel resurfacing. We may use dermal fillers depending on the amount and depth of the lines.
Corners of the mouth
Called the oral commissures, the lines and folds that develop on the corners of the mouth usually become more prominent with time and can make you look grumpy or tired.
As the skin ages, it loses collagen and fat, which in turn causes the skin to sag and wrinkles to develop, however these lines can be easily treated with dermal fillers or muscle relaxing injections.
