Heat wave? No sweat

The summer months in the UK can be glorious (allegedly…) – but for some it simply exacerbates what is already a difficult condition: excessive sweating, a medical condition also known as hyperhidrosis.

While sweating is essential for regulating our body temperature and is a normal response to certain situations such as being stuck on a hot tube train or being put on the spot in a meeting, about one in a 100 people in the UK suffer from excessive sweating in inappropriate situations. It can affect many parts of the body, such as hands, feet and underarms, leading to sweat-stained clothes, damp handshakes, smelly shoes and even an inability to grip pens properly.

Fortunately, however, there is a treatment: Botox. At Hans Place Practice we offer Botox injections to block the action of the sweat glands for up to a year, using tiny needles to target the affected area. It’s a simple yet life-changing procedure.
