Sculptra FAQs

epionce skin treatments

How many injections are there per treatment session?

The number of injections at each of the treatment sessions will vary depending on the degree of correction and the treatment plan determined by you and Dr Comins.

Is the treatment painful?

With any injection, some discomfort is possible. Consult Dr Comins for professional advice on what you might experience.

Is a skin test required with Sculptra?

No. Because Sculptra does not use any human or animal components, no allergy testing is needed prior to treatments.

What should I do after each Sculptra treatment?

Proper after care is necessary in order to help get the best possible results. Dr Comins will give you specific instructions at each injection session. The following general guidelines will help you get the most from your treatment:

  1. Within the first 24 hours of treatment, help reduce swelling by applying a cloth-wrapped ice pack to the area for a few minutes at a time. Avoid applying ice directly to the skin.
  2. Post-treatment, massage the treated area for 5 minutes 5 times a day for 5 days or as recommended by Dr Comins. This will help evenly distribute Sculptra. You can perform this action when applying a quality skin care product.
  3. Until any initial swelling and redness goes away, avoid excessive sunlight and UV lamp exposure.

When should I see Dr Comins for my next treatment?

On average, 3 treatment sessions are needed over the course of 4 to 6 weeks minimum but treatment does vary, so talk to Dr Comins about the treatment option that’s right for you.

Who should not have Sculptra?

You should not use Sculptra if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. You should not be treated when you have an active skin infection or inflammation in the treatment area or if you have a history or susceptibility to keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring.

How much does Sculptra cost?

There are a few factors to consider when looking into how much treatment with Sculptra will cost. Some of these include:

  • How many treatment sessions are needed
  • How much Sculptra (number of vials) Dr Comins uses per treatment
  • The degree of correction you and your doctor decide upon
  • Where you live

Due to these factors and especially because Scultpra treatments are tailored to individual patients, cost will vary from person to person. The best way to determine your individual cost is by talking to Dr Comins in a consultation prior to treatment ( which is always necessary ).

Are the results from Sculptra immediate?

No. Because Sculptra targets the underlying causes of the signs of ageing, it can give you a noticeable result that emerge subtly and can last more than 2 years*. Some visible improvement can be seen within the first few weeks of treatment, but Sculptra is designed to deliver its unique effects, with an average of 2 to 3 sessions, over the course of a few months. Because the production of new collagen formation is a gradual process, each treatment session will yield results that are more noticeable.

*Individual results and treatment sessions may vary.

How does Sculptra work?

Sculptra works to target the underlying causes of the signs of ageing such as collagen loss.

Sculptra is a facial injectable that works gradually in a series of treatments – an average of 3 injection sessions with an interval of 4 to 6 weeks between each session – to produce a refined, more youthful-looking appearance. During the course of your Sculptra treatment, collegan growth is stimulated. Over time, you’ll notice changes to your face that can last for more than 2 years *

Individual results and treatment sessions may vary.
